After fruitless years coffee research was discontinued as a development programme by August 1935 at Nestlé. Development of NESCAFÉ® had officially come to an end, but one man was allowed to continue to lead and work on it, also in his spare time.
Max Morgenthaler tirelessly continued to work on NESCAFÉ® with coffee beans bought at his own expense. Even at working at home as well. And it paid of – by early 1936 after 7 years of development the first NESCAFÉ® was born. And it would take another 2 years before it would be launched.
